Help in Uncertainty
Psalm 121:1–2
I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

When the psalmist looks toward the hills, he is searching for help in a place of uncertainty. Yet he quickly corrects himself — true help does not come from the hills, but from the Lord who made them. We, too, instinctively look to visible things for security: financial stability, capable leaders, well-made plans. These can be gifts from God, but they are not the source of our ultimate safety.
Dependence on God means recognizing that while He may work through people and circumstances, our confidence rests in Him alone. Earthly supports can falter. Resources can disappear. But the Creator of heaven and earth does not weaken, grow tired, or lose control.
Lifting our eyes to God reorients our hearts. Instead of being overwhelmed by what we see around us, we are steadied by the One who rules over it all. Faith does not deny danger, but it declares that God is greater than the danger.
Our help may not always come in the way we expect, but it always comes from the Lord.

- Where have I been looking for security or help apart from God?
- How would my attitude change if I truly believed my help comes from the Lord?
- What situation today can I consciously place in His hands?

Lift your concerns to God and acknowledge Him as your true source of help. Ask Him to teach you to trust His care more than visible circumstances.
