The Cost of Redemption
1 Peter 1:18–19
knowing that you were redeemed, not with corruptible things like silver or gold, from the useless way of life handed down from your fathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb without blemish or spot, the blood of Christ,

Redemption was not cheap. Peter reminds us that our freedom was purchased not with anything this world values, but with the blood of Christ. The price was staggering — the life of the sinless Son of God offered on our behalf.
We were not rescued from minor inconvenience. We were ransomed from futile ways — from a life of sin that leads nowhere, from spiritual death that we could not reverse. Without Christ’s sacrifice, we would remain enslaved to a destiny we could not change.
Because the cost was so high, our redemption should never be taken lightly. The cross was not a formality; it was a necessity. Sin demanded a payment we could not make. Christ made it for us.
When we remember the cost, gratitude deepens. When we forget, we drift toward carelessness with the grace we have been given. Let the cross keep your heart humble and your faith grateful.
