A Light to the World

When Paul and Barnabas were rejected by the Jewish leaders in Antioch of Pisidia, they did not give up. They turned to the Gentiles and quoted this extraordinary passage from Isaiah. God's plan was never limited to one nation or one people. From the very beginning, His intent was that salvation would reach the ends of the earth—every tribe, every language, every corner of the globe.

The church is meant to be a light. Not a fortress that protects its members from the world, but a beacon that draws the world toward God. When the church turns inward—focusing only on its own comfort, its own traditions, its own preferences—it stops being what God designed it to be. The light is not meant to be hidden. It is meant to shine in the darkest places.

This mission belongs to every congregation, no matter how small. You do not need a large budget or a global reach to bring the light of the gospel to your community. You need faithful believers who are willing to be present in their neighborhoods, generous with their time, honest about their faith, and genuinely interested in the people God has placed around them.

The ends of the earth may seem far away, but the mission starts where you are. The person sitting next to you at work, the neighbor you pass on your morning walk, the family member who has been distant from God—these are the ends of your earth. And the light God has given you is exactly what they need.
