Built on the Rock
Matthew 7:24–25
“Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it didn’t fall, for it was founded on the rock.

Jesus does not say that hearing His words is enough. The wise builder is the one who hears and does. Obedience is the foundation. Knowledge without action is a house built on sand — impressive in calm weather, but catastrophic in the storm.
Storms come to everyone. The difference between standing and falling is not the absence of trouble but the presence of a firm foundation. A life built on obedience to Christ can absorb tremendous pressure because it rests on something that does not shift.
We often spend more time analyzing Scripture than applying it. We discuss theology but avoid the personal cost of acting on what we know. Jesus warns that this is dangerous. The test of whether we have truly heard His Word is whether it has changed our behavior.
The time to build a foundation is before the storm, not during it. Every act of obedience today strengthens the structure for whatever tomorrow brings.

- Is there an area where I know what Scripture says but have not yet obeyed?
- Am I building my life on obedience to Christ, or on things that shift with circumstances?
- What step of action can I take today to move from hearing to doing?
Pray
Ask God to show you where knowledge has outpaced obedience in your life. Pray for the courage to act on what you already know and for the wisdom to build on the only foundation that holds.
