God's Workmanship
Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.
World English Bible
The Greek word Paul uses for "workmanship" is poiema—the word from which we get "poem." You are God's poem. His masterpiece. His creative work. This is not flattery; it is theology. The God who crafts galaxies and paints sunsets has poured the same creative care into making you who you are in Christ.
But notice what comes next: created in Christ Jesus for good works. Our identity and our purpose are woven together. God did not save us merely to give us a ticket to heaven. He saved us to put us to work—not the exhausting, earn-your-way work of religion, but the meaningful, purposeful work He designed us for before we were born.
This changes the way we think about our daily lives. The tasks in front of you today are not random. The people you will encounter are not accidental. The opportunities to serve, encourage, and love are not coincidences. God prepared these good works beforehand. He laid them out like stepping stones on a path, and He invites you to walk in them.
You may feel ordinary. You may wonder if your daily routines matter in the grand scheme of God's plan. They do. Every act of faithfulness, every word of encouragement, every moment of patient endurance is part of the masterpiece God is creating through your life. You are not finished yet, but you are already His workmanship.

- Do I see myself as God's workmanship—His creative masterpiece—or do I see myself as ordinary and unremarkable?
- What good works might God have prepared for me to walk in today?
- How does knowing that God designed me with purpose change the way I approach the routine tasks of daily life?

Thank God that you are His workmanship, created with purpose and intention. Ask Him to open your eyes to the good works He has prepared for you today, and give you the willingness to walk in them with faithfulness and joy.
