Growing in Grace

2 Peter 3:18

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

World English Bible

Peter's final words in his letter are a call to growth. The Christian life is not static. We are meant to grow in grace — to deepen our understanding of it, our dependence on it, and our reflection of it. A faith that stops growing begins to stagnate.

Growing in grace means becoming more aware of how much we need it. The more mature we become, the more clearly we see our own shortcomings — and the more deeply we appreciate God's mercy. Growth does not make us more self-confident; it makes us more Christ-dependent.

Growing in the knowledge of Christ means our relationship with Him deepens over time. We learn His character through Scripture. We experience His faithfulness through life's trials. We discover His sufficiency in our weakness. This is knowledge that transforms, not merely informs.

Grace is not a one-time gift we receive and then move past. It is the atmosphere in which the entire Christian life is lived. Keep growing in it.

Reflect

  • Am I growing in grace, or have I plateaued spiritually?
  • How has my understanding of God's grace deepened over the past year?
  • What practical step can I take to know Christ more deeply?

Pray

Ask God to keep you growing. Pray for a deeper understanding of His grace and a closer walk with Christ. Thank Him that growth is His ongoing work in your life.
