Grace for the Humble
James 4:6
But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

The doorway to grace is humility. James is blunt: God opposes the proud. Pride says, "I can handle this myself." Humility says, "I cannot, and I need God." The difference between these two postures determines whether we receive grace or resist it.
Pride is subtle. It does not always look like arrogance. Sometimes it looks like self-sufficiency, like quiet refusal to ask for help, like the assumption that our way is best. But in every form, pride pushes God to the margins. It tells Him we do not need what only He can give.
Humility, on the other hand, opens the floodgates. When we come to God with empty hands and honest hearts, He pours out more grace than we expected. He does not give reluctantly. He gives generously to those who admit their need.
If you feel distant from God today, ask yourself: is pride standing in the way? Humility is not weakness. It is the posture that positions us to receive everything God wants to give.

- What would genuine humility look like in my most challenging relationship right now?

Ask God to reveal any pride that is blocking His grace in your life. Pray for genuine humility and for the willingness to come before Him with open, empty hands.
