Strength in Grace
2 Timothy 2:1
You therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
World English Bible
Paul's instruction to Timothy is simple but profound: be strengthened by grace. Not by effort alone. Not by willpower. Not by your own determination. The strength Timothy needed for ministry, endurance, and faithfulness came from the grace found in Christ.
We often try to power through spiritual challenges on our own steam. We grit our teeth, make commitments, and push harder. But willpower has limits. Grace does not. When we draw strength from God's grace, we access a supply that replenishes rather than depletes.
Grace-based strength does not make us passive. It makes us dependent. We still work, still serve, still endure — but we do so knowing that the power behind our effort is not our own. Paul himself said, "I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me" (1 Corinthians 15:10).
Whatever you face today, you do not face it in your own strength. Be strengthened by grace.
Reflect
- Where have I been relying on my own strength instead of God's grace?
- What challenge in my life right now needs grace-fueled endurance?
- How can I intentionally draw strength from Christ's grace today?
Pray
Ask God to strengthen you through His grace. Confess the areas where you have been running on your own energy and invite Him to sustain you with His power.
