Sustained by God
2 Corinthians 12:9
He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.

We naturally pray for strength to increase and weakness to disappear. But Paul learned that God sometimes answers differently. Instead of removing the weakness, God promised sufficient grace. Instead of eliminating the struggle, He offered sustaining power.
Weakness exposes our limits, and we do not like being reminded of them. Yet our limitations are often the very places where God invites us into deeper dependence. As long as we believe we can manage life on our own, we keep God at a comfortable distance. But when we reach the end of ourselves, we discover that His grace is not theoretical — it is real and sustaining.
This does not mean God delights in our pain. It means He is able to redeem even what we wish were gone. In our frailty, His strength becomes more visible. Our testimony shifts from “Look what I accomplished” to “Look how God carried me.”
Dependence deepens when we stop seeing weakness as a disqualification and start seeing it as a place where God’s power can be revealed.

- What weakness or limitation in my life have I been resisting or resenting?
- How might God be inviting me to depend on Him more deeply through this struggle?
- Do I believe His grace is truly enough for what I am facing?
Pray
Bring your weakness honestly before God. Ask Him not only to help you endure it, but to use it to draw you closer to Him and display His strength in your life.
