One Day at a Time
Matthew 6:34
Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.
World English Bible
Worry pulls tomorrow’s uncertainties into today’s peace. Jesus calls us to a different way of living — one day at a time. This does not mean we ignore the future or avoid responsibility. It means we refuse to let imagined outcomes steal the grace God has given for today.
Each day comes with its own challenges, but it also comes with its own supply of God’s help. When we try to carry tomorrow’s burdens today, we find ourselves overwhelmed, not because God has failed, but because we have stepped outside the limits He designed.
Trusting God daily means receiving today as a gift. We obey Him in this moment, trust Him with the next, and believe that when tomorrow arrives, His grace will be there too.
Anxious striving looks ahead and panics. Faithful dependence looks to God and rests.
Reflect
- What future situation has been occupying my thoughts and stealing today’s peace?
- What would it look like to trust God with tomorrow and focus on obedience today?
- Do I believe God’s grace will be enough when the future becomes the present?
Pray
Name the future concern that has been weighing on you. Give it to God, and ask Him to help you focus on being faithful today while trusting Him with tomorrow.
