Buried with Christ
Romans 6:3–4
Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.

Baptism is not a mere symbol or an empty ritual. Paul describes it as a participation in Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. When we were immersed in water, we were buried with Christ. When we came up, we were raised to walk in newness of life. Something real happened in that moment — we were united with Him.
In baptism, the old life is left behind. The guilt, the slavery to sin, the separation from God — all of it was buried in that watery grave. And in its place, God raised us to something entirely new. Not a patched-up version of the old life, but a fundamentally different one.
This is why the New Testament connects baptism so directly to salvation. It is the moment of faith’s expression, the point at which we meet Christ in His death and receive the new life He offers. It is not a work we perform to earn favor; it is an obedient response to the gospel, where God’s grace does its transforming work.
If you have been buried with Christ, you have been raised with Him. Live today in the reality of that new life.
