Raised to Walk in Newness
Romans 6:5–6
For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of his resurrection; knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.

The resurrection is not just something that happened to Jesus. It is something that happens to us. Paul says that if we have been united with Christ in His death, we will certainly be united with Him in His resurrection. This is not wishful thinking; it is a promise grounded in God’s faithfulness.
Our old self was crucified with Christ so that sin would no longer be our master. Before Christ, we were enslaved. We could resist sin occasionally, but we could not escape it permanently. The cross broke that power. The resurrection gave us a new identity and a new ability to live for God.
Walking in newness of life is not about perfection; it is about direction. We stumble, but we are no longer defined by our failures. We struggle, but we are no longer slaves. The trajectory of our lives has changed because we belong to a risen Lord.
Every morning is an invitation to live in the freedom Christ’s resurrection provides.

Thank God that you are no longer enslaved to sin. Ask Him to help you live in the freedom of your new identity, walking in the power of Christ’s resurrection.
