Chosen Before the Foundation
Ephesians 1:4
even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without defect before him in love,

Before the first star was formed, before the mountains rose from the sea, before time itself began its steady march—God had you in mind. Paul tells the Ephesians that God chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world. This is staggering in its scope. The God who designed the universe also designed a plan for your redemption, and He did it before anything else existed.
Now, this does not mean God arbitrarily selected some people for salvation and excluded others—that would contradict the clear teaching of Scripture that God desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. What Paul is describing is God's eternal plan: He determined beforehand that those who are "in Christ"—those who respond to the gospel in faith, repentance, and obedience—would be His chosen people, holy and blameless before Him.
The beauty of this truth is not that God made the choice for you, but that He made the choice available to you. Before you ever knew His name, He was working to bring you into His family. Before you ever opened a Bible, He was arranging the circumstances of your life to lead you toward the gospel. Before you ever stepped into the waters of baptism, He had already prepared a place for you in His plan.
You are not an afterthought. You are not an accident. You are part of an eternal purpose, conceived in the mind of God before time began. Let that truth sink in today—not to produce pride, but to produce wonder. The Creator of the universe wanted you in His family.

Praise God for His eternal plan of redemption. Thank Him that before the world began, He was already working to bring you into His family. Ask Him to give you a deeper sense of wonder at the love that chose to make you His own.
