Depending on God
Lamentations 3:22-23
It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his mercies don’t fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.
World English Bible
Dependence on God is not a one-time decision but a daily posture. The writer of Lamentations spoke of God’s mercies in the middle of deep sorrow. Nothing about his circumstances felt easy, yet he clung to the truth that God’s steadfast love had not ended.
Each morning is evidence that God’s faithfulness continues. We wake not because we have earned another day, but because His mercy has made room for it. This humbles us and reassures us at the same time.
We often wish for strength to handle everything at once, but God gives grace in daily portions. Yesterday’s grace was for yesterday’s burdens. Tomorrow’s grace will meet tomorrow’s needs. Today, we depend on the mercy He provides for this moment.
Every sunrise is an invitation to trust again, to rely again, and to walk forward in the confidence that His faithfulness is great.
Reflect
- How have I seen God’s mercy in my life recently, even in small ways?
- Where do I need fresh grace from God today?
- Do I start each day aware of my need for His mercy?
Pray
Thank God for His faithfulness and new mercies. Ask Him to help you rely on His grace today, trusting that He will supply what you need for every step.
