Living in the Light of Eternity
Colossians 3:1–2
If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth.

The resurrection does not simply promise a future reward; it transforms present living. Paul says that because we have been raised with Christ, we should seek and set our minds on things above. Eternal perspective is not escapism; it is the lens through which everything else comes into focus.
When we set our minds on earthly things, our peace fluctuates with every headline, every conflict, and every disappointment. But when our minds are set above, we gain stability. We see temporary struggles in the light of eternal realities. We value what God values. We invest in what lasts.
Christ is seated at the right hand of God — reigning, interceding, and preparing a place for His people. Knowing this changes our priorities. It shifts our ambitions from accumulation to faithfulness, from recognition to obedience, from comfort to Christlikeness.
Living in the light of eternity does not make us less engaged with this world. It makes us more purposeful within it.
Reflect
- What earthly concerns have been consuming my attention at the expense of eternal priorities?
- How would my choices today change if I viewed them from an eternal perspective?
- Am I investing in things that will last, or things that will fade?
Pray
Ask God to lift your eyes above present circumstances. Pray for a heart that seeks eternal things and for the wisdom to invest your time, energy, and relationships in what truly matters.
