Walking by Faith

2 Corinthians 5:7

for we walk by faith, not by sight.

World English Bible

Faith is the decision to trust what God has said over what our eyes can see. Walking by faith does not mean we close our eyes to reality. It means we interpret reality through the lens of God's promises rather than through the limits of our own understanding.

Sight demands certainty. It wants to see the whole path before taking a step. Faith takes the next step because it trusts the One who laid the path. This is uncomfortable. It requires letting go of the need to understand everything before we move.

Every significant step of obedience in Scripture was taken by someone who could not see the outcome. Abraham left his homeland. Moses approached Pharaoh. The Israelites crossed the sea. None of them had a map. All of them had a promise.

Walking by faith does not remove fear, but it refuses to let fear have the final word. We move forward because we trust that God is faithful, even when the road ahead is hidden.

Reflect

  • Where is God asking me to step forward without seeing the outcome?
  • Am I waiting for certainty before I obey, or trusting God in the uncertainty?
  • What promise of God can I hold onto as I walk by faith today?

Pray

Ask God for the courage to walk by faith today. Tell Him where you feel uncertain and ask Him to replace your need for sight with trust in His faithfulness.
